Ingredients: 1 cup sugar 1 can guava shells drained 5 large eggs, beaten with 1 teaspoon water until frothy 5 tablespoons butter, room temperature
Directions:Beat guava shells until you have a smooth paste. Mix sugar and guava paste in double boiler. You must use a glass or ceramic (non reactive) pan. DO NOT use a metal pan. (Put water in lower half to recommended level.) Whisk in beaten eggs and butter. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens -- about 30 to 40 minutes. Remove from heat. Keep refrigerated until ready to eat. This is great on toast, as a filling for pies and pastries. |
