Ingredients: 3 c water 2 c basmati rice 6 Tbs vegetable oil 2 Tbs butter (optional) 6-8 strands saffron 1 1/4 tsp salt 1 1/4 tsp sugar 1/4 c frozen peas 1/4 onion, diced 1/4 tsp cumin Directions:1. Wash and soak rice for 45 minutes. Add oil to pan and cook onions until golden brown. Add butter, salt, sugar, cumin and peas. Cook for about 2 minutes. Add water and saffron to mixture and bring to a boil. Let boil for 2 minutes. 2. Drain water from rice and add to mixture. 3. Keep boiling until the water goes below the rice making holes in the rice. Cover the pot with the lid. Turn down the heat to low and let cook for 3 minutes. Turn off the heat and let stand for another 3 minutes. |
