Biscuit Cutter

Usually round and made of plastic or metal, a biscuit cutter is deeper than a cookie cutter. It`s used to cut biscuits from dough that has been rolled or flattened. Biscuit cutters may be purchased singly or as nested sets with different sizes.

Blender, Electric

Small countertop appliance with a tall narrow container used for blending, chopping and liquefying. It`s popular for making beverages like smoothies and milkshakes. A blender has short rotating blades and can chop small amounts of foods such as garlic, onions, herbs and cookie or bread crumbs.

Dutch Oven (4-Quart or Larger)

A large pot that is used most often on top of the range to prepare a large batch of soup or chili or to cook pasta. It should have a tight-fitting lid. Many Dutch ovens are ovenproof and can be used when cooking pot roast or stew in the oven.

Egg Slicer

Kitchen tool with slatted, egg-shaped hollow on the bottom and a hinged top consisting of fine steel wires. A peeled hard-cooked egg is placed in the hollow and the top is brought down to cut the egg into even slices. It can also quickly slice mushrooms, strawberries, kiwifruit and small cooked potatoes.

Garlic Press

Kitchen tool that presses a garlic clove through small holes, quickly crushing the garlic and extracting both the pulp and juice.

Equipment Grill

A piece of cooking equipment, usually used outdoors because of intense heat and smoke, that gives great-tasting food with irresistible aromas! The grill refers to the whole cooking unit, whether fueled by charcoal, gas or electricity.

Microwave Oven

A microwave oven cooks with high-frequency radio waves that cause food molecules to vibrate, creating friction that heats and cooks the food. Most microwave ovens allow you to quickly reheat, defrost, cook, melt and soften food.

Pepper Mill

A cylindrical handheld grinder that crushes dry peppercorns for a fresher more pungent flavor than purchased ground pepper. Many can adjust the size of the grind from coarse to very fine.

Pizza Pan

A round metal pan with low or no sides used for baking pizza. Some are perforated to help crisp the pizza crust. The size generally ranges from 12 to 15 inches.

Spaghetti Server

Easily grasps and separates long strands of pasta for convenient serving.

Tart Pan

A baking pan with low fluted sides, about 1 inch, that`s used for pastry with a sweet or savory filling. Most are round, but they`re also available in squares and long rectangles. Sizes range from 4 inches (may be called a tartlet pan) to 13 inches.

Waffle Iron

A hinged cooking utensil with 2 honeycomb-patterned griddles used for making waffles. Can be either electric with a built-in heat source or made to heat on the stovetop. The stove-top model has to be turned to cook both sides of waffles.

Wire Whisk

Great for beating eggs and preparing sauces and dressings as well as for all-purpose mixing.

Wok

Woks were designed for stir-frying to shorten cooking time and save fuel. They are a round-bottomed all-purpose cooking utensil, perfect for deep-Frying, steaming and stewing food.
