English sweet and sour ribs
Ingredients:
3 pounds spareribs
3/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons seasoned salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup oil
2 cups onions, sliced
1 1/2 cups hot water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup ketchup
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 garlic cloves, crushed
2 bay leaves
Total time: 2 hrs 45 mins

Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2.Trim the excess fat from spareribs. In a shallow dish combine flour, seasoned salt, and pepper. Dip the ribs in the flour mixture, turning to coat evenly.
3.In a oven proof skillet brown the meat in oil, remove and keep warm in an oven.
4.To the skillet add sliced onions and cook until brown. Combine with hot water, brown sugar, ketchup, red wine vinegar, crushed garlic cloves, and bay leaves; pour mixture over ribs.
5.Cover and bake in the oven for 2-1/2 hours. Remove the bay leaves before serving.
