Ingredients: 1 cup butter or margarine (room temperature) 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 6 egg yolks 1/4 cup ground or finely chopped, blanched almonds 1 teaspoon grated orange or lemon peel (optional) Directions:1. Cream butter until fluffy in a large mixing bowl. 2. Mix flour, sugar, and salt. 3. Alternately beat in 1 egg yolk and a sixth of flour mixture. Continue until all ingredients are well combined. Stir in almonds and orange peel. Mix well. 4. Roll or pat dough to fit a greased 15x10x1-inch jelly-roll pan. 5. Bake at 325 F 35 to 40 minutes, or until golden but not browned. 6. Cool in pan on rack 10 minutes. Cut in fourths. Remove from pan. Cool on rack. |
