Goetta
Ingredients:
1 lb beef
1 lb pork
8 c water
2 1/2 c pinhead oatmeal
1 large onion, chopped, but not too fine
1 to 4 bay leaves (optional)
3 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper

Directions:
Cook all the ingredients together (except for the oats) until tender, discard bay leaf. Cool and grind meat together. Use the broth from the meat to cook the oats to very well done. Mix the meat and the oats well and place in a loaf pan, cover, and put in refrigerator. When it is firm and ready to use, cut off slices and fry in pan in butter till golden brown on both sides. Serve with eggs and toast. Makes for a very hearty breakfast. Another way to package; once cooled cut into rectangle individual portions, wrap in cling wrap and freeze or use large sausage skins.
