Ingredients: 1 pkg. (12 oz) Frozen Hot Dogs - any favorite brand will do 1 can Chili Beans w/meat sauce 2 cans Pork n Beans 1 can (6 oz.) Tomato Paste 1 small onion finely diced 2 TBS. vegetable oil Dashes and splashes of the following: Worcestershire Sauce Liquid Hickory Smoke Garlic powder Onion powder Directions:The frozen hot dogs went into the microwave long enough to get a knife through them to slice lengthwise and then cut crosswise into small 'cubits' (g) Heat the oil and toss in the diced onion, simmering till transluscent; Toss in the dogs and add the cans of beans (minus the cans, silly!) Heat thoroughly, adding the splashes/dashes of items mentioned above and then the tomato paste. You may need to add a small amt. of water if the mixture looks Too thick. But be careful, you really want a consistency somewhere paralleling that of sloppy joes. The final product can be tossed over bread, openfaced similar to sloppy joes; or poured into a bowl and served with crackers ala a 'different' kind of 'chili'~ As far adding the seasonings and sauce/flavoring without measurements, this is geared to individual tastes. When it smells good - stop adding stuff! Surprisingly enough - the concoction, though viewed somewhat skeptically, was finished off in short order by all on hand. With wondrous cries of "How did you do that"? and "Can we have it again"? ringing in my ears I figured I'd best get it down on paper - or floating out in space as it were, where I could reach out and grab it again in a pinch for "What's for dinner tonight, honey?" |
