Ingredients: Batter: 3 cups flour 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt ? cup margarine ? cup shortening 1 ? cup white sugar 4 eggs 1 cup milk 1 teaspon vanilla extract Chocolate: 4 ounces semisweet chocolate 2 tablespoons water 2 tablespoons evaporated milk or cream Directions:Cream margarine and shortening together. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat 2 minutes after each. Add milk alternately with dry ingredients, beginning and ending with dry. Melt chocolate over hot water with the 2 tablespoons of water. Add cream or canned milk and blend well. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Put 1/3 of the batter in pan, then spread 1/3 the chocolate over the batter. Repeat layers ending with the last of the chocolate. Bake at 350 degrees F approximately 60-70 minutes or until cake tests done. |
