Ingredients: 3 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour, unsifted 2 tbsp Sugar 1 tsp Salt 1 pack Active Dry Yeast 1 cup Water 1 tbsp Margarine 1 tbsp Water 1 Egg Yolk, beaten Coarse salt
Directions:1 Servings: 12 mix 1 cup flour, sugar, salt and undissolved yeast. 2 Heat 1 cup water and margarine to 120 to 130 degrees. 3 Gradually add to dry ingredients; beat 2 minutes at medium speed of mixer. 4 Add ? cup flour. 5 Beat at high speed 2 minutes. 6 Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough. 7 On floured board, knead 5 minutes. 8 Set in greased bowl; turn to grease top. 9 Cover and let rise in warm, draft-free place 40 minutes. 10 Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. 11 Roll each into a 20-inch rope. 12 Shape into pretzels or other shapes. 13 Place on greased baking sheets. 14 Cover; let rest 5 minutes. 15 Mix egg yolk and 1 tablespoon water; brush on pretzels. 16 Sprinkle with coarse salt. 17 Bake at 375 degrees 15 minutes or until done. 18 Cool on racks |
