Ingredients: 1/2 cup chopped onion 5 tablespoons butter 4 tablespoons flour 4 cups milk 1 bay leaf 1-1/2 teaspoons each: sugar and salt 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 can (28 oz.) Hunt`s Crushed Tomatoes
Directions:1. Brown onion in hot butter until lightly golden. Sprinkle flour over butter mixture; stir and cook for 1 minute. 2. Add and mix milk slowly to stockpot; bay leaf, sugar and salt. 3. Simmer until slightly thickened. Stir baking soda into the tomatoes. Add tomatoes to the milk mixture; heat through. Remove bay leaf before serving. |
