4 cups canned beets, diced
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
2 cups tangerines, peeled, depitted and diced
3 cups water
1 tbsp. white sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1. Steam canned beets for 10 minutes until tender.
2. Meanwhile, put salt, black pepper, tangerines, water and sugar in a pan. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes until water has reduced and fruit is soft.
3. Using a food processor, puree tangerines and water mixture. Add cornstarch and blend until smooth. Serve beets hot, smothered in the tangerine sauce.
