Gratin dauphinois
Ingredients:
1.5 to 2 kg potatoes
salt, pepper
nutmeg
butter
garlic
150 g grated cheese
2 beaten eggs (optional)
500 ml milk
200 g creme fraiche

Directions:
1. Peel and mince the potatoes into slices. Do not wash. Put them in a bowl, season.
2. Add the grated cheese and beaten eggs (optional), pour the milk and warm cream.
3. In a gratin dish that you will have thoroughly buttered and rubbed with garlic, pour the mix. Sprinkle with grated cheese and drop a couple of butter knobs on top.
4. Put in warm oven, lower the temperature and bake for about 50 minutes. Check the cooking by poking it with a knife. The potatoes should not resist to the tip of the blade.
