1 cup sweet unsalted butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped blanched almonds
1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1. Beat butter at high speed and sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla extract. Beat in almonds, then flour.
2. With hands, shape 1-inch pieces of dough into crescents. Place on ungreased baking sheets, about 1 inch apart.
3. Bake at 350 F about 20 minutes, or until just golden on edges.
4. While warm, coat crescents with confectioners` sugar.
